Positive patient outcomes start with accurate reporting and accurate reporting relies on optimum technician performance. At IMS we understand the impact quality training can have on patient care which is why we provide comprehensive training three ways: Onsite, Online, and Ongoing education.
The onsite IMS training program educates imaging technicians on three essential levels. The first level, technical training, guides all system users through a comprehensive demonstration of the imaging software’s functionality and proper use. Technicians learn how to use important software features. Leveraging these simple but powerful tools will help ensure the image taken is the best it can be.
The second level, clinical training, offers a patient focused review of the entire breast screening examination, covering topics varying from patient intake to proper imaging technique. Upon successful completion, technicians have a thorough understanding of how to properly conduct every stage of the Infrared Breast Examination.
In the final segment of the training process, technicians conduct live exams with the IMS training staff observing. Technicians test their new training by successfully filling out patient intake forms, capturing patient images, and submitting studies to our lab for expedited, same-day analysis.
For new additions to staff or system users not present for our onsite training, we now offer a comprehensive online training program. The online training is administered in two segments. The first is a review of a detailed study guide and the second tests the users ability to retain the information presented using a simple multiple-choice exam.
To review the study guide and take the examination, users simply login to our website. Topics covered include:

Sections of the study guide describing proper imaging technique and software use are made easier with interactive tools. These tools allow the user to navigate through a live demonstration of the Eclipse® software where they learn how to properly focus the camera and position patients.
Once users have completed their review of the study guide, they can take the test, which is graded instantly. The test can be re-taken until the trainee receives a passing score.
At IMS we encourage our valued network partners to maintain a thorough and up-to-date understanding of Infrared Mammography through Continuing Professional Education. We provide, at our cost, a one-year membership to the American Academy of Thermology (AAT), the premier educational body in the industry. All AAT members receive important education about emerging research, approved clinical applications, changing clinical standards, and important FDA regulatory changes.
